Epoxychloropropane is a colorless oily liquid with a pungent odor such as ether and chloroform, which is flammable, volatile, toxic, and anesthetic. Relative density 1.1812, melting point -25.6 ℃, boiling point 117.9 ℃. It is miscible with many organic solvents such as ethanol, propanol, ether, chloroform, acetone, trichloroethylene, and carbon tetrachloride. It is easily soluble in benzene and slightly soluble in water. Due to the active chlorine atoms and epoxides contained in the molecular structure of the Chemicalbook, its chemical activity is active, and hydrolysis occurs naturally α- Chloroglycerol, then glycerol is generated. Can undergo ring opening reactions and generate propylene glycol and glycerol; Reacting with alcohols and phenols can generate ethers; Reacting with amines can generate glycidyl amines; Reacting with carboxylic acids can generate esters; Able to self aggregate; Reacting with aldehydes (or ketones) can generate dioxane.

It can be used to manufacture fiberglass, adhesives, cation exchange resins, electrical insulation products, as well as in industries such as solvents, plasticizers, stabilizers, surfactants, and pharmaceuticals.
